We’ve broken down Patagonia Ski Jacket collection to show you where each model shines (and where it falls short), who it’s most suited for, and also how they stack up against one another.
Wrap Yourself In Warmth With A Patagonia Snowdrifter Jacket
Patagonia Ski Jacket, With the help of radio signals from lookup RECCO detectors can be amplified, speeding up the search for a buried avalanche victim or a lost person. Standard shell fabric is a three-layer, 70% recycled stretch ripstop polyester that provides excellent freedom of movement and protection from the elements.
A DWR (durable water repellent) coating reduces the likelihood of the fabric becoming soaked and boosts its abrasion resistance. Layering is a breeze thanks to the moisture-wicking, silky polyester knit lining. Compatible with helmets, with a double adjusting strap cordlock system avoids dangling cords; hood includes a soft, laminate visor to maintain visibility.
On hot days, you can let some cool air in through the zips in the pits. Patagonia Ski Jacket, The webbing loop on the back of this infinitely adjustable, low-profile powder skirt allows it to be worn with any pair of Patagonia snow trousers. With the help of radio signals from search-and-rescue RECCO detectors can be amplified, speeding up the search for a buried avalanche victim or a lost person. The laminated visor and one-point-adjustable hood provide for a pleasant ride uphill without a helmet, and the latter can be swapped out for a lower-profile one for the ride down.
Two large zippered breast pockets serve as vents, and third zip shut to keep your valuables safe. The Patagonia Upstride soft-shell jacket has a flexible, highly-breathable, moisture-managing fabric as well as a clean, dynamic shape, making it ideal for fast movement in the backcountry on lengthy, high-output excursions.

Powder Bowl
Patagonia Ski Jacket, Powder Bowl is one of Patagonia’s best-selling lines and is comparable in price and performance to the Snowshot & Snowbelle collections up top. Major upgrades include a Gore-Tex membrane and a thicker, more durable 150-denier (D) shell than the previous 75D Snowshot/Snowbelle.
For strong chargers and individuals who spend a lot of time in the woods, this means increased durability and protection from the elements. The Powder Bowl has a mesh interior that keeps you cooler than the basic model’s smooth taffeta, making it a better breather overall.
The Powder Bowl is offered in both uninsulated and insulated forms; the latter is quite toasty thanks to its blend of 100g & 60g polyester fill. The price is our main gripe about the Powder Bowl. You pay an extra $150 compared to the Insulated Snowshot & Snowbelle up above, but you might not get much more for your money.
Patagonia Ski Jacket, Both styles include useful features including powder skirts, pit zips, and multiple pockets (but the Powder Bowl has a zipped forearm pocket that is convenient for keeping a ski pass). Powder Bowl’s extra durability and quality touches may be worthwhile for frequent resort skiers, but if you only ski the mountains a few times a year, it’s hard to justify the extra cost.
Patagonia’s Powslayer Ski Shell
Patagonia’s PowSlayer ski shell is their top-of-the-line product for use in the backcountry. This classic has endured for so long because it provides reliable shelter even in the harshest of environments.
Patagonia Ski Jacket, The Gore-Tex Pro material (their most durable & weatherproof design), the long cut for increased coverage in thick snow, and the helmet-compatible hood that closes effortlessly with glove-friendly Cohesive cord locks make this jacket ideal for skiing remote, big-mountain slopes.
